Patch Notes (October 2021)

New World recently became one of the fastest growing MMORPGs on Steam, quickly overtaking Valheim as the largest Steam launch in the history of the platform. Overall, New World is a massive game with a ton of offerings, from PVE to PVP quests, game modes, and even dungeons that players can explore for epic loot. Players can also create and customize their characters with unlimited freedom through a class system that allows them to respec and swap weapons with just the push of a button. There is also a ton of crafts and a trading system for those who want to dominate the market. However, there are a lot of things that need to be fixed and are in the process of being fixed. That said, here are all of the recent patch notes for the game listed below. New World Update: 1.0.2

FACTION MISSIONS:

Significantly reduced the increase in influence over time for attacking factions. This is to explain a bug that we found where the increase multiplied much faster than expected over time. Removed the decrease in influence over time for defending factions.

BUG FIXES:

Fixed an issue where players could respawn as a corpse. Fixed an issue where the level 3 Fishing Treasure Chest would not respond after being hooked. Fixed various localization and text field issues. Fixed an issue that caused players kicked, suspended, banned, or removed from the game by Easy Anti-Cheat to receive unclear communication. Additional messages have been added so that players can better understand the penalty they received. Fixed an issue causing territory influence to reset after an invasion. Fixed an issue where players attempting to take a fractional amount of stacked items from a different settlement belonging to their faction, were charged for the full cost of the stacked items. Fixed a game crash caused by a player targeting another player with a healing effect at the exact moment they were traveling fast or teleporting. Fixed an issue reducing the variety and potential amount of loot obtained from game modes and chests around the world. Fixed an issue that prevented some crafting bonuses from providing the desired minimum values. Fixed an issue where overflow items in storage were transferred to a different territory. Fixed an issue where stroking Barkimedes caused the camera to shake. Fixed an issue that prevented the Ice Pylon ability from cooldown. Fixed an issue where settlement storage can be massively overwhelmed with expired contracts. Fixed an issue where player movement could stutter after being congested by logging. Fixed an issue where there weren’t enough chests in Hapless Homestead to meet faction quest requirements. Fixed an issue causing players to teleport randomly. Fixed an issue where players would disappear if they stood still when a Camping Turret Blueprint was held. Fixed a visual issue causing repeating turrets to appear as if firing projectiles at an angle that did not line up with the turret. Fixed various game crashes. Fixed an issue where Marshjaw would respawn slower than intended in Flatfish Fishery. Fixed an issue causing some bears to respawn faster than intended. Fixed an issue causing twice the expected number of Boars to spawn at Boarsholm’s POI in Restless Shores. Fixed an issue where players could be prompted to purchase an item that they had already started the unlocking process on in the in-game store when trying to unlock another item immediately after. Fixed an issue that prevented store previews for skins from working correctly when the player was actively wielding a weapon. Fixed an issue where the appearance of the Righteous Guardian’s armor would not change color during war. Fixed an issue where the appearance of Rune Bear armor would not change color during war. Fixed an issue that caused incorrect poses when previewing store items.

GENERAL

We’ve set up the basics of character server transfer, and you can see parts of that working in the in-game store. We are continuing to work on this feature and will have more information on how the system works later. this week when we post server transfers.

WAR

Turret projectiles in War have been replaced with physical projectiles to use sweep detection. This should improve performance in War, with fewer items being spawned in the world.

AFK PREVENTION

In order to ensure that players cannot stay AFK, especially on servers with a higher population, we have made the following adjustments to the AFK prevention system. Added additional AFK prevention to ensure gamers cannot trick the existing system with simulated mouse movement. Shortened the AFK warning message from 20 minutes to 15 minutes. Shortcut AFK disconnection from 25 minutes to 20 minutes.

GLOBAL WAITING QUEUE

We added a confirmation screen when a player attempts to quit the queue for a world, asking them to confirm if they intend to quit the queue. This should help ensure that no one accidentally leaves the queue and misses their place in the queue.

BUG FIXES:

GENERAL CORRECTIONS

Fixed a rare issue that prevented the interaction key from working properly on various objects in the world. Fixed an issue that prevented the cannon from appearing in the “Pirate Position” emote. Fixed an issue that resulted in players not receiving coins as a reward for certain activities. Fixed a bug where interrupting the fast travel animation could get the player character stuck inside a house. Fixed an issue in Territory Status rewards where localized text was missing. Fixed an issue that resulted in players being prompted to claim Achievement Titles multiple times after re-logging into the game, despite having already claimed the rewards. Fixed an issue causing leg animations to freeze. Fixed game crashes related to New World Twitch integrations. Fixed a rare issue where players could enter a state where they couldn’t be hit by most attacks. Fixed an issue where some item containers could be looted endlessly. Fixed an issue where the event abort notification could sometimes persist after the player abandoned the event.

AI FIXED

Fixed an issue causing Pastor Walsh to aggressively spawn at Walsham’s Point of Interest (POI). Fixed an issue that caused enemies to spawn slower than intended in the Bullrush Wash POI. Fixed an issue that caused Overseer Zane to respawn slower than intended in the quest “Something to Prove”. Fixed an issue where Master Zindt could have duplicated respawns at Kannan’s Tomb POI.

QUEST CORRECTIONS

Added missing information in the log on the recommended quest level for players trying to unlock the second faction rank. Fixed an issue where resetting the quest “Blessings of the Earth” when you obtained one of the blessings would block progress in the main story quest (MSQ). Fixed an issue where the quest “Azoth Fulminate” was not available to players if they completed other Windsward quests first. Fixed an issue where completing the quest “Crushing Goodwill” prevented the player from getting the quest “Arruda Jam”. Fixed an issue where the Bartender’s conversation state in First Light could enter a state where quests cannot be obtained from the Bartender. Fixed an issue where completing the quest “Taste of Vengeance” prevented the player from getting the “Predator, Prey” and “High Expectations” quests. Fixed an issue where completing the quest “Curse of the Ebony Hawk” would prevent the player from getting the quest “Leap’s Bet”. Fixed an issue where completing the quest “The Saircor Expedition” would prevent the player from getting the quest “One Threat at a Time”. Fixed an issue where completing the quest “The Strength of the Earth” would prevent the player from getting the “Faded Lights” and “Tears of Azure” quests. Fixed an issue where completing the quest “Twisted Transfiguration” would prevent the player from obtaining the quest “Blessings of the Fallen”. Fixed an issue where completing the quest “Facets of Light and Dark” would prevent the player from getting the quests “Descent to Frosty Sleep” and “Transmute Iron to Dust”.
