Fans of the classic Super Nintendo game ActRaiser recently had a surprise with the release of Actraiser Renaissance. Revealed as part of Nintendo’s Direct presentation on Thursday, September 23, Actraiser Renaissance is a remaster and recreation of the original.
A game many called ahead of its time, ActRaiser combined city building elements with a Castlevania-like platform. Originally released in 1990 and getting a sequel in 1993, the series lay dormant for almost two decades.
Today, 18 years later, we’ll see the first new entry in the series with Actraiser Renaissance.

Bringing the same tight platform and city building mesh, the game seems to have super clean base sprite graphics and a gorgeous soundtrack. Actraiser Renaissance features remastered graphics, improved game systems, a deep story, and a unique gameplay loop.
The game launched in full on September 24, available on Nintendo eShop.
